Cachar implements early school hours from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm due to heatwave
In light of the ongoing heatwave in Cachar district, District Magistrate, Mridul Yadav has implemented new guidelines aimed at safeguarding students from extreme temperatures. Beginning September 21, 2024, all private, state, and central government schools in the district are required to adjust their operational hours, with classes now starting at 7:30 AM and concluding by 12:30 PM. This change is designed to minimize student exposure to the heat during the hottest parts of the day.
To further protect students, all morning assemblies will be held indoors, and schools must ensure access to sufficient drinking water throughout the day. Additionally, students are advised to avoid wearing waistcoats and ties to reduce heat retention. Schools are responsible for verifying that all drinking water facilities are functioning and that classrooms are well-ventilated, with operational fans to maintain a comfortable environment.
In the event of power outages, schools are required to have backup power systems in place. The District Magistrate's office has emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines until further notice, underscoring the priority of student health and safety amid the heatwave. For additional inquiries, school authorities are encouraged to contact the district administration.
