Assam's Meenakshi Das makes history with solo world bike tour

In an extraordinary feat of endurance and adventure, Meenakshi Das, a 40-year-old fitness trainer from Assam, has embarked on a solo world tour on her motorcycle, creating history as the first woman to undertake such a journey. Riding her Bajaj Dominar, Meenakshi set off on her ambitious expedition in December 2023.

Her journey began in Nepal, followed by a ride to Mumbai. From there, she took the only flight of her trip to transport her bike and herself to Dubai. Since then, Meenakshi has been riding approximately 10 hours a day, covering extensive distances across various terrains and climates.

As of now, Meenakshi is in the United Kingdom, having already traveled through 28 of the 67 countries she aims to visit. With only two sets of riding gear and a couple of thick jackets and clothes, she is well-prepared for the challenging conditions she encounters.

In her interactions with the media, Meenakshi shared a profound insight from her travels: "One thing I have learned is no one cares what religion I follow when they offer help." Her journey is not just a test of physical endurance but also a testament to the universal kindness and humanity she has experienced along the way.
