Assam Police arrests first suspect in Amit Shah Doctored video case, says CM Himanta Biswa sarma
A man named Reetom Singh was arrested by the Assam Police in connection with a fake video involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The police action was prompted by complaints from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the BJP regarding the tampered video circulating on social media and allegedly being shared by Congress leaders. The Delhi Police Special Cell has registered a case under various sections of the IPC and relevant provisions of the IT Act based on these complaints.
The complaint filed by Sinku Sharan Singh, DC of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, highlighted that doctored videos were being circulated on social media with the intent of creating disharmony among communities, potentially affecting public tranquility and order.
The complainant attached links from which the videos were shared for further investigation. This incident underscores the importance of addressing misinformation and ensuring that digital content is not manipulated to incite discord or disrupt societal harmony.
