In a dramatic turn of events, an SUV transporting an electronic voting machine in Assam's Lakhimpur constituency found itself in peril as it partially sank into a river. The vehicle was being ferried across the Deopani river on a mechanized boat when the water level suddenly surged, causing the boat to capsize. Fortunately, both the driver and the polling officer managed to escape unharmed before the vehicle submerged.

The SUV was en route to the Amarpur area in Sadiya to replace a malfunctioning EVM detected during morning polling. Despite the efforts of a quick response team stationed at Sadiya, the vehicle met with an unforeseen obstacle during its journey. The incident not only disrupted the polling process but also resulted in damage to the EVM intended for replacement. The State Disaster Response Force was summoned to retrieve the partially submerged vehicle from the river, marking a challenging episode in the electoral proceedings of the region.
