Karimganj Kabarsthan Committee Decide Not to Allow the Burial of Addicted People and Their Family

In a significant development, the Muslim community in Karimganj has firmly opposed drug users, suppliers, and usurious money lenders. The Maizdihi Kabarsthan Committee, representing the Maizdihi cemetery, issued a notification stating their refusal to permit burials for individuals engaged in drug consumption, distribution, or usury. This unanimous decision was made by the three mosque committees of Maizdihi, underscoring their dedication to combatting drug abuse and usurious practices. Even family members of those involved in these activities will be denied burial at the Maizdihi cemetery.

These determinations were solidified during a crucial meeting held at Maizdihi Saral Kha Road by the Maizdihi Kabarsthan Committee. The prohibition encompasses all forms of recreational drugs, including heroin, yaba tablets, and cannabis, as well as money lenders charging excessive interest rates. Furthermore, a unanimous agreement was reached to socially boycott individuals engaged in these unlawful activities.

This resolute stance gained traction following a call by Maulana Ataur Rahman Mazharbhuiya, former MLA and current Central Secretary of Nadwatut Tamir, urging the Muslim community not to bury individuals involved in vices like addiction. This appeal was made during a joint anti-drug meeting organized by the Karimganj District administration and North East India Emarat-e-Shariah Nadwatut Tameer.
