Shopkeeper attempts to rape minor in Rongpur, booked

 A horrifying incident unfolded in the serene village of Silchar Rongpur as a shopkeeper stands accused of attempting to rape a minor. The distressed mother of the victim has taken swift action, lodging a formal complaint with the local police.

The shocking event transpired on December 4, prompting the mother to file an affidavit on Tuesday, December 12. According to the official statement, the mother had entrusted her 11-year-old daughter to the safety of their home while she briefly stepped out. Around 1:30 pm, the minor ventured to the nearby shop owned by Anup Nath Bhowmik to purchase cakes.

Within the confines of the shop's adjoining bedroom, Anup Nath Bhowmik allegedly subjected the minor to physical assault, including slapping her face. The situation escalated as he forcibly dragged the minor onto a bed, attempting to satisfy his illicit desires. In a fortunate twist of fate, another customer entered the shop, interrupting the heinous act. Seizing the opportunity, the minor managed to escape and promptly sought refuge at home.

Once home, the minor confided in her sister, who relayed the distressing details to their mother upon her return in the afternoon. Seeking answers, the mother, accompanied by her daughters, confronted Anup Nath Bhowmik at his shop. In response, the accused shopkeeper reacted violently, unleashing a torrent of obscene abuse and death threats, forcing the family to retreat.

The mother, undeterred by the threats, decided to pursue justice and filed an official complaint. In her statement, she revealed that she initially attempted to resolve the matter through social means for several days, but when these efforts proved fruitless, she felt compelled to involve the authorities.
