Miscreants looted ₹30,500 in coins from the Jiribam SBI branch, located on the second floor of Jiribam Supermarket, on Monday midnight.

Though the bank authorities refused to reveal details, the main door was found unlocked when the staff arrived in the morning.

Security guards confirmed the heist, noting that ₹12,500 in ₹5 coins and ₹18,000 in ₹10 coins were missing from the strong room locker.

The looter/s damaged the CCTV camera inside the bank and covered another at the entrance with plastic. Jiribam district police, led by the SP, arrived at the scene and examined the footage, revealing a person sneaked in through a window around 9:30 pm on Monday and stayed inside until 4 am Tuesday.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
