Back Fungus Declared Epidemic: Assam Government
Keeping in mind the several cases being reported in the country and also in Assam, The government has declared Back Fungus Epidemic.
A recent notice has been issued by the government declaring Mucormycosis aka Black Fungus as an Epidemic. The government in the notice said that keeping in mind the several cases being reported in the country as well as in Assam, The government has declared Back Fungus an Epidemic. Assam Government also said that the risk of Mortality is significant and there is a likelihood of an increase in the number of such cases in the near future.
According to Section 2 of the Epidemic Act, 1897, the Assam Government has asked all the Government and Private health facilities, Medical Colleges to follow guidelines for screening, diagnosis, management of Mucormucosis aka Black Fungus and made it mandatory to report all the suspected and confirmed cases to the Health and Family Welfare department at the district level.
