Cops Finally Disclose the Long Time Hidden Illegal Cough Syrup Manufacturing Farm in Meghalaya

In a significant victory against individuals involved in the narcotics trade, the Meghalaya Police successfully confiscated a shipment of Phensedyl cough syrup and apprehended three individuals linked to the case.

The operation was executed in collaboration with the Khliehriat Police Station and the Anti Narcotics Task Force on a Saturday. They detained Altaf Hussain, and a search of his basement uncovered a total of 9883 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup.

Upon further investigation, Altaf Hussain provided valuable information that led to the capture of the main suspect in this illicit network, identified as Ratan Dkhar, a resident of Ummulong in Meghalaya. Dkhar operated an underground facility in his home's basement, where he manufactured counterfeit cough syrup labeled as Phensedyl, which was unlawfully exported to neighboring Bangladesh. Subsequently, authorities raided Ratan Dkhar's residence and discovered a substantial cache of questionable items.

Among the items seized by law enforcement were 600 bottles of 100 ml Elcodyl cough syrup, 10 bottles of a flavoring agent (each 500 ml), 11 bottles of food coloring (each 1 kg), 10 kg of Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, and 1 kg of Chlorpheniramine Maleate. Additionally, authorities found 7 books on Pharmacology and Drug preparations, 34 bottles of Phensedyl (100 ml), 780 empty 100 ml bottles of Phensedyl, 46 cartons of pre-marked Phensedyl, 1 carton of bottle caps, 1 bag of Phensedyl labels, 1 bottling machine, and 2 sophisticated drug preparation and filtration machines. Thus, there were 9,883 bottles of Phensedyl. During the operation, Rs 11,790 in cash was also seized.
