Crackdown on moneylenders (Interest Business): Three arrested in Silchar following Chief Minister's directive

In adherence to the directives of the Chief Minister of Assam, a relentless campaign against moneylenders (Interest Business) is underway in the state, leading to the arrest of three individuals in Silchar. The arrests, carried out by the Cachar police in a raid on Tuesday, include a woman among the suspects. All three arrested moneylenders are reported to be residents of Silchar.

The individuals taken into custody were identified as 35-year-old Hena Begum Laskar from North Krishnapur, Jaifarpur, 41-year-old Khairul Hossain Laskar from Kanthal, and Dilbahar Alam Chowdhury from Silchar Kanakpur. Following their arrest, the trio was produced in court on Wednesday.

The ongoing operation against moneylenders by the Cachar police is part of a broader initiative aimed at curbing unlawful financial practices in the state. The crackdown is in line with the Chief Minister's commitment to tackling issues related to usury and ensuring financial security for the residents of Assam. Further developments in the operation are anticipated as the police continue their efforts to root out illegal moneylending activities in the region.
