Dilip Paul, ex-Silchar MLA, makes a dramatic return to BJP; political landscape takes a surprising twist!

In a significant turn of events, Dilip Kumar Paul, a two-time MLA from Silchar, rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the party's latest recruitment event, "Jogdan Karjosuchi."

The gathering witnessed the inclusion of over 150 leaders from the Indian National Congress Assam and AASU into the BJP.

Paul, who had the potential to create history as the first BJP MLA in Silchar to secure a third consecutive term in 2021, faced a twist when the party ticket went to Dipayan Chakraborty. In 2021,

Paul made headlines by leaving the BJP, alleging connections to illegal syndicates among certain party leaders.

Now, almost three years later, on January 26, 2024, Dilip Paul has made a notable comeback to the BJP.

During the event, Paul was honored and adorned with a party hat, symbolizing his return, which he accepted with a smile.

The event moderator emphasized the significance of Paul's return, marking a momentous occasion for the party.

Notably, the event saw a surge in leaders joining the BJP from the Indian National Congress Assam.

Minister Pijush Hazarika also posted in "X" formerly known as Twitter where he sarcastically attributed this influx to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, suggesting that the impact of the Congress leader's journey influenced leaders to switch to the BJP.
