Tragic accident at Virangi, Mizoram as Bolero Pickup ditched from hill, 2 dead and 4 seriously injured

In a devastating road accident near the new MBI check gate in Virengti, Mizoram, a Bolero pickup truck carrying five passengers and the driver veered off the road, resulting in the death of two individuals and leaving four severely injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm on Saturday, as the Bolero pickup, en route from Silchar with five workers destined for Mizoram, lost control near the Vairengti IOC MBI gate. The driver struggled to maintain control, eventually leading the vehicle into a deep ravine.

Tragically, two passengers lost their lives in the accident, with one declared dead at the scene, and another succumbing to injuries on the way to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Saddam Hussain Lashkar from Lakshipur, Cachar district, and 29-year-old Golmei Gaylengam from Bishnupur district, Manipur.

Local residents acted promptly, rescuing four seriously injured survivors and rushing them to Varengti Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, all four victims were subsequently transferred to Kalasib Civil Hospital for further medical attention.

Mizo police authorities recovered the bodies of the deceased and transported them to Kalasib Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The injured individuals include 42-year-old Abdul Kalam, 23-year-old Rohit Alam, 20-year-old Enam Uddin, and 20-year-old Md. Badr Uddin, hailing from Jiribam district, Manipur.

The tragic incident has cast a somber shadow over the region, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. The bereaved families and the injured victims are receiving support and medical care during this difficult time.
