AR Rahman Files Rs 10 Crore Defamation Suit Against ASICON

In a recent development, AR Rahman, the renowned composer, has filed a Rs 10-crore defamation suit against the Association Surgeons India (ASICON). This action comes in response to ASICON's complaint about Rahman not refunding an advance fee of Rs 29.50 lakh for a 2018 concert that never took place. Rahman's counsel has vehemently denied any transaction or contractual agreement with ASICON, refuting the claim that he was booked for a show and received an advance.

ASICON's complaint stated that the concert didn't occur due to venue and government permission issues. They alleged that Rahman promised a refund and provided post-dated cheques that bounced, and despite promises from his team, no refund was made over the course of five years.

Rahman's legal team asserts that the ASICON's notice carries malicious intent and hidden motives. They have demanded that ASICON recall the notice within three days, issue a public apology, and pay Rs 10 crore as damages for tarnishing Rahman's reputation. Failure to comply may result in legal action against ASICON.
